Trademark rights in Pakistan are dramatically stronger with registration — enforcement without it depends on proving reputation in a passing-off action, which is slow and evidence-heavy. Filing costs little compared to one infringement suit, protection dates back to the filing date, and marketplaces like Amazon effectively require it. Typically around 18–24 months for straightforward applications, including examination and the journal opposition period. Objections or oppositions extend this. Protection dates back to filing once registered.
Can I use ™ before registration?
Yes — ™ once the application is filed. ® only after the certificate issues; earlier use is an offence.
Do I need a trademark for Amazon Brand Registry?
Brand Registry requires a registered (in some cases pending) trademark in an accepted office. We plan Pakistan and marketplace filings together for sellers.
