Court Marriage in Lahore — Lawful, Documented, Same-Day

Court marriage in Pakistan is a fully lawful marriage between two consenting adults, performed with nikah requirements and registered under the Muslim Family Laws Ordinance 1961. Parental permission is not a legal requirement for adults — superior courts have consistently protected the right to marry by free choice. IMAAR provides the complete service in Lahore: verification, documentation, nikah by a licensed registrar, Union Council registration and NADRA certificate — with confidentiality and, where needed, legal protection for the couple.

Requirements for a Valid Court Marriage

Governing Law

Muslim Family Laws Ordinance 1961, s.5 — registration of marriages; Punjab Marriage Restraint law — minimum age; consistent superior-court jurisprudence protecting an adult's right to marry of free will.

Our Court Marriage Process — Step by Step

  1. Private consultation. Both parties consult us with CNICs; we verify age, free consent and marital status, and answer every question in confidence.
  2. Documentation. CNIC copies, photographs and affidavits of free will prepared; special documents (divorce proof, conversion documentation where applicable) handled correctly.
  3. Nikah. Performed by a licensed nikah registrar with witnesses; dower (haq mehr) and nikahnama conditions recorded properly — clauses skipped here cause disputes for decades.
  4. Union Council registration. The nikahnama is registered and the computerized marriage certificate issued.
  5. NADRA certificate. Marital status updated in national records — needed for spouse visas, bank matters and inheritance.
  6. Protection where needed. If the couple apprehends harassment, we advise and pursue protective measures, including protection petitions.

Timeline: with complete documents, the marriage itself can be completed in a day; registration and NADRA certificate follow in the normal course. Fees are fixed and quoted in writing before you proceed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is court marriage legal in Pakistan?
Yes — completely. A marriage between consenting adults with nikah essentials, registered under MFLO 1961, is fully lawful. "Court marriage" simply means proper legal channels and documentation.
Do we need our parents' permission?
No. For adults, free consent is what the law requires; parental permission is not a legal requirement, and superior courts have repeatedly protected adults' right to marry by choice.
What documents are required?
CNICs, photographs and affidavits of free will; a previously married bride provides proof of divorce or widowhood. We prepare everything.
How long does it take?
With documents complete — one day for the marriage; Union Council registration and the NADRA certificate follow.
We fear harassment from family. Can we get protection?
Yes — protection petitions and, in appropriate cases, police directions. Tell us your situation candidly; safety planning is part of the service and completely confidential.
